Reading these posts, it is obvious that few even know what "communist, socialism, or capitalism" is. Perhaps worse, they dont know what a democratic republic is, nor do they know the difference between governmental forms and economic forms. How can reasoning debate occur among such widespread and blatant ignorance? Communism, socialism and capitalism are economic choices; none of which, in pure form have ever and do not now exist. All economic systems, in existence are "mixed", moving toward the left (communism) or the right, toward capitalism. Since neither capitalism nor communism could even exist w/o socialism supporting or enabling them they are, in reality, merely markers, for comparison. Let's get one thing clear; w/o socialism (pooling of public labor and wealth), NO market could exist, and NO protection for that market, or maintenance of it. No equal sharing of wealth could occur without a vehicle to 1st consolidate that wealth. Being able to discuss upon a basis of reality, vs fantasy is imperative to problem solving. Democracy and authoritarian are form of govt; with leftward toward more democratic and rightward toward more authoritative. Far left ONLY example is ancient Greece; far right has incalculable examples. The GOP is trending, rapidly toward totalitarianism. Best example, Rome. And as for “No Socialism,” that one just drives me nuts. What does the guy with that trailer think Social Security is? And Medicare? I don’t know who that guy is, but I know a lot of Trump supporters who are on Social Security and Medicare, and don’t even know such programs are socialism-in-action. How does that guy and others like him think they get drinkable water when they turn on their taps? That what they flush down the toilet gets treated and disposed of? That their roads get plowed when it snows, and paved when they get too full of potholes? That someone will pick up the phone when they dial 911, and send police or an ambulance if they need help? All of these things, and a whole lot more, are socialism-in-action. Everyone pays into a common fund, and that money is then used for the common good. Indeed, the biggest socialist organization in this country is the United States military. Everyone with the same rank gets pretty much the same pay, regardless of their jobs, whether you’re a private or a general. Everyone gets free housing, free clothing, free medical care, free dental care, and free food.
