Description

we're a three-piece instrumental math noise jazz punk alternative funk ambient metal band in our late 20s to mid 30s based in the south metro and we are now becoming a two-piece because our drummer is leaving on great terms as his family, work, and life evolve. we have released two EPs, two additional singles, and are putting finishing touches on a full-length record, so there is a lot of material to reference and put your own spin on as we get acclimated and get show-ready. our bassist handles a lot of the riffing and song structure stuff, our guitarist is usually off in space trying to make his instrument sound as little like a guitar as possible, and we need someone to bring it all together. we have no delusions of grandeur or intention of "making it big" but have made this a true serious weekly commitment for practice, writing, recording (we do all recording ourselves with pro-quality gear and results), and strategically mixing in shows in the twin cities. no plans for touring because we have families and jobs but weekend runs would be awesome. we play loud and have a practice space we can use (if you don't already have a space set up, at least) so you'll need to have gear that can be heard over us. we don't have a lot of hard qualifications we're looking for in a new drummer (either a two kick or two floor tom kind of person), so just be able to play and write at a technically competent level, be ready to learn and put your stamp on some cool weird songs, be able to commit to weekly practice (usually wednesdays), and don't be a jerk. also please have samples to share because we have plenty to share as well. here are a bunch of bands we like, have been compared to, jam on at practice, or rip off in the best way as we write our own stuff: black midi, slayer, primus, the mars volta, rage against the machine, rush, yes, tool, dillinger escape plan, pup, system of a down, every time i die, imperial triumphant, at the drive-in, ween, between the buried and me, pixies, the twin peaks soundtrack, kowloon walled city, thrice, refused, chromatics, hopesfall, black sabbath, necrophagist, minus the bear, botch, hum, idles, thundercat, tom waits, pink floyd, king crimson, envy, curl up and die, radiohead, gojira, primitive man, weezer, pig destroyer, cake, protest the hero, the locust, deafheaven, hikes, pantera, and whatever david lynch listens to
