Makeba Wilson’s Theater Company Writing Contest. Welcome to Makeba Wilson’s Theater Company writing contest. This contest is for those who love writing or for someone who wants to try something new. This contest is a fun way to tap into your inner writer and tell some great stories. Be as creative and imaginative when writing your stories and use very descriptive language. Please make sure you read over your work before you submit it. Make sure you use spell check, and that grammar is correct. Please only submit final copies of all your work. The age requirement of this contest is 15 and up. Please send submitted work to Makeba Wilson’s Theater Company, P. O. Box 443, Audubon NJ 08106. The rules for this contest are quite simple and listed below. 1. Please put all contact information at the top of your submitted work. Contact information should include your full name, address, phone number and email. Please have all submitted work mailed or emailed in by Nov 20, 2022. All winners will be notified by Dec 20, 2022. 2. Pick one writing prompt. Write prompt that you picked at the top of your page so judges will know which one you picked. 3. All submitted work must be original and it must be typed. 4. You must have a minimum of three pages of written work. You’ll need no more than a maximum of five pages of written work. Double space your work. 5. Please use stander font size 12 and stander font styles like Courier, Time New Roman or Arial. 6. No entry fee is required, and all rights remain to the author of the submitted work. 7. All submitted work will be scored based on several areas of writing. Some of the areas that will be scored is story structure, characterization, organization, descriptive language, and spelling word usage to give you an ideal. The highest score you can get on each section is a 10 and the lowest is a 1. Once all the judges are individually done scoring your work, then all the scores will be added up to give you your final score. The writers with the 3 highest scores will be the winners of the contest. First prize winner will receive 150-dollars cash prize, second prize winner will receive a 100-dollars cash prize and the third winner will receive 50- dollars cash prize. Pick one writing prompt listed below: 1. What country have you always dreamt of traveling to? 2. The ocean becomes the sky. 3. A woman afraid of clowns is forced to work in a traveling circus. 4. The FBI begs you to come back to work on a special case. Your former partner has turned and is now wanted for the murder of three co-workers. 5. Write about what you can gain from being open-minded in every aspect of life. 6. Write about someone who is not accept by their peers. (For example, the ugly duckling) 7. It came from beneath the sink! 8. What do you find to be most beautiful in the world? 9. Two strangers on an online chat hit it off. Turns out they’re childhood sweethearts. 10. Cattle of livestock plans to take control of the farm. Bonus Prompt: A boy’s stepfather is a murderous werewolf. Remember you need to write a minimum of three pages and no more than five pages.
