Howdy! First, a little about myself. I've been playing bass guitar for over 20 years, have been in multiple professional paid gigging bands, and collaborate with various musicians for original projects. I grew up listening to blues and classic rock, and over the years my musical interests have expanded to jazz and funk, some of the first folk recordings ever made, to Primus and other bass-centric artists, some country, a little heavier rock and metal thrown in to spice things up, and everything in between. I'm always trying new things, techniques and sounds, and always on the lookout for new experiences while expanding my and other's understanding and appreciation of all Music. I'm offering various kinds of lessons: * Beginner to intermediate instruction on playing the bass guitar, with all experience levels welcome. If you're just starting out, I'll show you the fundamentals in technique, basic music theory, as well as working with you to learn new songs and get you on your way. * If you've been playing for a while, maybe you know a handful of songs and are ready to learn new things regarding the instrument, such as more advanced techniques, including 'slap-and-pop' and 'double-thumb' style of playing, or are just stuck in a rut, I can show you new things to guide and inspire you to new experiences with the bass. * The final type of lesson are more open to other instrument players, not just bass players, though they're more than welcome to take advantage of these too. These will tackle more advanced musical concepts, such as how to improvise and solo, and jam successfully with other skilled musicians. We'll delve into the nuance of interaction between various instruments and players, especially during live performance and musical creation. I'm envisioning these to be more discussion-oriented, experimental, serious and fun than other types of music lessons you might have had in the past, so come prepared to be challenged and exposed to new concepts. I'm available to meet anywhere in the greater Colorado Springs area. Due to my schedule right now, I'm offering lessons on Sunday & Monday all day, and evenings starting at 4pm every day, including weekends. I charge $30 for a half-hour, $40 for a full hour, or $120 up front for 4 hours. I am willing to travel to you, or host at my place, whichever is more convenient to you.
