Bernard Daly’s Promise: The Legacy of a Place-Based Scholarship
Tuesday, September 27
7:00 pm
Bernard Daly and his family escaped the Irish Famine when they immigrated to America in 1863. Daly became the town doctor in Lakeview, Oregon, a state legislator, a college regent, county judge, rancher and banker. Upon his death in 1920, it was his wish to transform his million dollar estate into a college fund for the children of Lake County, Oregon. One hundred years later, Lake County’s own frontier doctor continues to transform lives. Join OSU professor and dean emeritus of education, Sam Stern, as he presents the story of Dr. Daly’s life and his research into the impact of his vision for “a college promise for all”.
