The Midtown-to-Market Bikeway is the only protected Bikeway in Omaha, and we want to celebrate it, hear your feedback, and spread the word.
There are two ways to get involved with Chalking the Bikeway. You can either chalk up the sidewalk that leads to the Bikeway in Midtown or ride down the Bikeway and chalk the B-Cycle stations along the Bikeway.
What designs can you draw? The festival's theme is Chalking on Sunshine, and we encourage you to get creative.
🚲 Local businesses in Midtown and along the Bikeway have special offers for those who ride to the chalk art festival! (be sure to pick up the wristband at the booth!)
🚲 ONE person who registers via Eventbrite will win a FREE entry to Goldenride Bikefest. 🚲
🚲 Stop by the Bike Walk Nebraska booth to pick up your chalk, get a wristband if you ride to the event, and learn more about the bikeway and future bike/pedestrian plans in Omaha.
The Bike Walk Nebraska booth will be south of Modern Love in the greenspace on the corner of Farnam and Turner Blvd.
A few safety things we’d like to remind you of:
You may only chalk the sidewalks by the B-Cycle Stations or the sidewalk leading to the Bikeway from Midown. We ask that you use the sidewalk chalk we provide. No exceptions. The spaces will be marked.
Stations include: 31st & Harney (Dewey Park)24th Ave & Harney (by Bad Seed Coffee & Supply)16th & Harney (across the street from The Orpheum)12th & Harney10th & HarneyMOST IMPORTANT: Your safety is in your hands. The street and the Bikeway will not be closed. We encourage you to wear bright and/or reflective clothing as you work. Do not stand or sit in the street as you are drawing. Be mindful of your surroundings.
Feel free to bring a broom to clear your section if you wish.
Take care not to block the sidewalk or the Bikeway with your bicycle as you draw.
