REUNION BACKGROUND:
Since 1986 we have been having these annual reunions.
The first was at Bear Creek Church in Stanly County, NC.
The following year and until 1999 we met in Misenheimer, NC at the Lion’s Club Hut.
In 1999 with the dedication of a memorial to Johann Jakob Meisenheimer and family
in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery near Mt. Pleasant, NC, and until 2020, we met at
the church’s fellowship hall.
Johann Jakob was the first known American Meisenheimer who migrated from Germany
in 1743 and first settled in Pennsylvania, married, and about 1775 moved with his whole
family(s) to near present day Mt. Pleasant, NC. St. John’s was their family church.
Subsequently, some “latter day” Meisenheimers arrived from Germany in the 1850-1870 general time frame.
To that end, we welcome all Misenheimers with interest for these reunions.
