Press release from the City of Mobile:
August 31, 2022
Mobile, Ala. — College football season is underway, and the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD) is gearing up to throw another BIG party during the most anticipated game of the year. We are excited to announce the Iron Bowl Block Party will be back for another year in Downtown Mobile!
"In Alabama, the Saturday after Thanksgiving means one thing: It's time for the Iron Bowl," Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. "This year, our Parks and Recreation Department is once again bringing this statewide rivalry downtown, and the atmosphere will be fantastic for fans of both teams."
The festivities will begin two hours before the Auburn Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide kickoff on Saturday, November 26. There will also be plenty to do before the game, with live music from the band "False Identity" and the Small Business Saturday: Outdoor Holiday Market in Cathedral Square.
As for the game, there will be a massive LED screen showing the action in HD on Dauphin Street between Cedar and Lawrence streets. There will also be a live DJ during TV timeouts, prize giveaways for the best-dressed, most-spirited fans and plenty of great vendors and businesses for whatever fans need. Chairs and blankets are welcome, though we ask that you do not bring tents or umbrellas.
We'll be sharing more details about this year's Iron Bowl Block Party closer to game day. Be sure to check out MPRD's website to stay informed about this and other great City of Mobile events.
