Where do you find your friends?

Please don't flag this, I'm genuinely interested in finding friends but don't know where to start. Please tell me where you go to find your friends at, whether an app, group on Reddit or Facebook? I've tried MeetMe, bumble bff and everyone is only interested in hooking up, I don't want that and I don't want a relationship either. I'm not the going out type unless it's hiking or taking walks at the park and a lot of the time it seems people try to avoid eye contact or just a simple hello as they go by. Please I don't want anything inappropriate, I just don't want to be alone anymore.
