So true! I think it all comes down to laziness(it takes work to write your own music), and a general lack of creativity. Boooooring! You answered your own question too, the drunks and "mom jeans" patrons want to put their hands in the air to a Journey song rather than original, creative music. And let's not forget the dozens of tribute bands in the area that can't stand the thought of writing their own music, but rather mimicking someone else. Keep trying my friend.
