Location: Prospect Park United Methodist Church in SE Minneapolis, plus other performance sites as scheduled Schedule: Tuesday rehearsals, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Two sessions of 13-15 weeks: (1) September-December; (2) January-April/early May. (Note: the fall 2022 session may start later, as the choir gets back to in-person meetings.) One dress rehearsal (3 hr) and concert (4 hour commitment) per session (Sat/Sun - Fall and Spring). In addition, there may be up to 2 additional performances each session, usually on a Tuesday, Saturday, or Sunday. Other extended rehearsal time as needed. Job Summary: The Prospect Park Community Choir (PPCC) accompanist provides piano accompaniment for rehearsals and performances. PPCC is a non-auditioned choir of adult singers. The choir performs a wide variety of music, with emphasis on fun and musicality. Essential Functions & Responsibilities • Accompany all PPCC rehearsals and performances • Assist the conductor with warm-ups and other rehearsal duties • Assist the conductor with rehearsals, including playing individual voice parts, score reading, and sight-reading • Comply with COVID-19 policies • Other duties as assigned Qualifications • At least two years of post-secondary piano study, or recommendation from a qualified piano teacher • At least two years of choral accompanying work with four-part choirs • Ability to play vocal lines separately and together • Ability to play a variety of musical styles and accompaniments: Pop, Broadway, Gospel, Traditional, Folk etc. • Ability to warm up choir • Sight-reading skills • Ability to work collaboratively with the conductor • Flexibility to prepare to the conductor’s rehearsal plan, but also to move to other pieces as needed in rehearsal Compensation The PPCC accompanist works as a self-employed contractor with the choir. Contract payment is $1000/session. The compensation for the fall 2022 session may be prorated, depending on the session start date.
