Congregation BJBE, a vibrant and inclusive Reform congregation in Deerfield, Illinois, is excited to welcome an experienced full-time custodian to our team. Our award-winning facilities include a Sanctuary, Chapel, Sacred Hall, education wing, preschool, and multiple gathering spaces for our community. The ideal candidate will be reliable, friendly, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving work environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible primarily for custodial tasks including: cleaning floors, windows, bathrooms; emptying trash and recycling; dusting; arranging for occasional contract cleaning services; maintaining outdoor areas - emptying trash, cleaning of outdoor furniture, snow shoveling, and/or cleaning walkways • Provides set-up/tear-down support for the use of all general areas, to include tables, chairs, audio-visual equipment, and sound equipment for services, events, and rentals • Assists with tech and AV setups as needed for events and programming (turning on soundboard, cameras, etc.) • Use floor cleaning equipment as needed (i.e. buffer, walk behind, spot-carpet cleaner) • Aids with kitchen tasks including: coffee service, arranging sweet trays, kitchen clean-up, and washing dishes • Other duties and tasks as assigned • Completes training courses as required QUALIFICATIONS: • Strong knowledge and skill of custodial maintenance tasks required in a multi-use facility • Demonstrates initiative, dependability, resourcefulness, and the ability to work effectively with a team and community • Able to work and complete assignments with minimal supervision • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license • Able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis HOURS AND RATE OF PAY: Pay: $23/hr Schedule varies based on events, but will primarily be afternoons and evenings. Must be consistently available to work on Sundays. Maintenance/custodial: 2 years (preferred)
