Description

DOE is hosting its first-ever Justice Week September 12-16. DOE will convene internal and external stakeholders to discuss the work the Department has been doing this past year on issues of equity and justice and understand the path ahead to institutionalize this important work. We will be discussing three large initiatives: the DEIA Executive Order (EO 14035), the Equity Executive Order (EO 13985), and the Justice40 Initiative. There will be activities for DOE employees and contractors every day of the week as well as some external events. Join us for Day 2 of Justice Week! DOE leadership kick us off and will discuss the internal implementation of its Equity Action Plan, pursuant to Executive Order 13985. We will explore the Equity Action Plan's background and methodology, discuss early accomplishments, and dive into some of DOE's SBIR/STTR and Small and Disadvantaged Businesses (SDB) numbers. We will continue with a panel focusing on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Funding Announcement Opportunities (FOA) template and on equitable design with key senior leaders in DOE. Finally, several program offices will provide examples of early successes of implementing the Equity Action Plan and addressing equity in procurement, and answer questions. Agenda: 9:00: Opening Remarks from Department of Energy Deputy Secretary David Turk 9:15: Introduction to the DOE Equity Action Plan 9:45: Bipartisan Infrastructure Law FOA Successes and Rubric Creation Panel 10:40: Program Office Early Successes in the Implementation of the Equity Action Plan 11:45: Q&A and Closing Remarks
