This education series will support any interested professionals mentorship by PF! and initial educational requirements for the Ohio Prevention Credential. Session 4/September 2022 The SPF (Strategic Prevention Framework) P1- Planning & Evaluations for Prevention Professionals SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) is a planning process for preventing substance use and misuse. The five steps and two guiding principles of the SPF offer prevention professionals a comprehensive process for addressing the substance misuse and related behavioral health problems facing their communities. The Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) outlines a process that an organization, initiative, community, or state can follow to prevent and reduce the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. The framework addresses both risk and protective factors. Risk factors are those elements within an individual or environment that make us more susceptible to negative behaviors or conditions. Protective factors are the opposite – those elements within an individual or environment that make us less susceptible to those negative behaviors or conditions. Learning objectives: 1. Participants will articulate the 7 parts of the Strategic Prevention Framework. 2. Participants will be able to identify the distinctive features of the SPF. 3. Participants will apply the SPF to their work.
