DOE Justice Week Day 1: Welcome to Justice Week, and Executive Order 14035

DOE is hosting its first-ever Justice Week September 12-16. The Department will convene internal and external stakeholders to discuss the work the Department has been doing this past year on issues of equity and justice and understand the path ahead to institutionalize this important work. We will be discussing three large initiatives: the DEIA Executive Order (EO 14035), the Equity Executive Order (EO 13985), and the Justice40 Initiative. There will be activities for DOE employees and contractors every day of the week as well as some external events. DOE’s first-ever Justice Week will kick off with Secretary Granholm and Deputy Secretary Turk at a DEIA Town Hall. This event will highlight the Department’s efforts to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, in support of Executive Order (EO) 14035 and other DEIA-related EOs. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness and understanding of DOE’s DEIA Strategic Plan and how offices can take action towards improving and integrating DEIA within their teams and talent processes. The agenda will cover a DEIA overview, a promising practices panel featuring DOE colleagues, a poster session and meet-and-greet with DOE’s Employee Resource Groups, and an announcement of DEIA Senior Leadership Council members. Participants will: Learn of DEIA strategic efforts related to Executive Order 14035 and other DEIA-related executive orders.Be informed and understand elements of the DOE’s DEIA strategic plan. Become familiar of available resources to take action towards improving and integrating DEIA within teams and talent management processes. Learn of DEIA promising practices, meet DOE-chartered Employee Resources Groups (ERGs), and be introduced to members of the DEIA Senior Leadership Council.
