Description

The Illinois Prison Project is proud to host its second annual gala on Sept. 22, 2022. Please join us for an evening of food, drinks and dancing in community with all who make our work possible. The IPP Gala is a celebration of hope and inspiration. This event uplifts the work of the system-impacted people, advocates, partner organizations and others who fight tirelessly alongside IPP to free people from the shackles of imprisonment. In addition to the evening's festivities, IPP will recognize three honorees who have demonstrated a commitment to decarceration and have zealously advocated for people in prison. About IPP In three short years, IPP has freed 83 people from prison, successfully advocated for a new law in Illinois that allows for medical release and administrative policy changes that create more pathways for release from prison, and educated tens of thousands of community members about the harms of our racist and regressive criminal legal system. Through creative lawyering, innovative advocacy and a focus on the humanity of people harmed by the criminal legal system, IPP's work is transforming the way that Illinois treats incarcerated people.
