Description

***Tickets to reserve mooncakes are sold out, but you can still attend Mid-Autumn Festival at Set-In-Stone! To let us know you are coming without a "Mooncake Reservation Ticket" you may select a "Attendance Only (No Mooncake)" ticket to receive updates and notifications about the event. You can also check the Roots & Routes Facebook ( www.facebook.com/rootsroutesbwc/ ) or the Chicago Park District event page for updates about rain delays and other news.*** The Chinese Moon Festival is on the 15th of the 8th lunar month. It’s also known as the Mid-autumn Festival. The Moon Festival is one of the most important traditional events for the Chinese, like Christmas and Thanksgiving in the West. The importance of holding Moon Festival in Chicago is to keep traditions alive as the younger generations grow up in a diverse environment where all cultures and traditions come together. It can also be used as a tool to educate others who are not familiar with Chinese traditions and culture to learn more. The event will include community prairie planting, storytelling, Chinese folk dance performance, lantern making, acoustic music, tea and moon cake sampling, and lantern parade. While you do not need to register to attend, your registration helps us plan better for this event, and guarantees you a free mooncake!
