This class will meet from 10am to 12pm, take a 1-hour break for lunch on your own (lunch is not included with your ticket), and again from 1-2:30pm. Navigating Your Birth: Labor Navigating Your Birth (NYB): Labor is a 3-and-a-half hour class all about the physiology of childbirth for you and your birth partner. After you complete NYB: Labor, you will: Know your rights in childbirth and how to self-advocateUnderstand the stages of labor and the Golden Hour after birthPractice non-drug comfort measures and advocacy techniquesNYB: Labor includes a required reading assignment before class with a short overview of the stages of labor and an introduction to advocacy so we can jump right into learning what to do when during our class time together. Information on accessing the reading assignment will be included in your registration confirmation email. NYB Classes are scheduled throughout the year, simply select the class date that best fits your schedule and due month. About Your Instructor Joyce Dykema, MS, CD(DONA), HCHD, CBE is a certified birth doula, Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, childbirth educator, and community breastfeeding educator in Lincoln, Nebraska. Joyce began practice in 2009, and has attended over 140 births. She began teaching childbirth education in 2019 and has instructed more than 100 families. As an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor, Joyce has also provided continuing education courses for birth professionals since 2017. Joyce has partnered with Malone Maternal Wellness as a birth doula and childbirth educator since 2020. Written by an experienced birth doula for busy families looking for an accelerated birthing class, with in-depth, practical tips that will help you prepare for the birth you want, and confidently navigate the birth you get! Pick the class topics you want, or take all three for a more complete childbirth education! NYB: Labor is all about the stages of labor and advocacy, 3-and-a-half hour class. NYB: Interventions is all about common medical interventions, 2 hour class. NYB: Postpartum is all about normal postpartum in the first 12 weeks, 2 hour class. FAQ: When during my pregnancy should I take this class: Ideally, you will schedule your childbirth class at the end of your second trimester or early in your third trimester, approximately 23-35 weeks. However, you know your pregnancy, educational needs, and calendar best! Find the right balance of educating yourself early enough in pregnancy to make your preparations for the birth you want, but not so early that you forget what you learned by the time your baby arrives. I want a complete childbirth series, more than what this class covers: Navigating Your Birth includes classes on Labor, Interventions, and Postpartum, select one, two, or all three for a more comprehensive childbirth education! Refunds will be conducted according to Eventbrite's refund policies. Refund Policy: Your payment reserves a spot in the class and is non-refundable, but tickets are transferable to different pregnant students and different class sessions with advance approval from Joyce.
