In July 2019 Federal authorities launched a domestic terrorism investigation into the Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting in Northern California involving hundreds of festival-goers and a multi-acre incident site. An analysis of the suspect's digital media turned up a "target list,” which included religious groups, political parties, and government locations. Join us for a unique FBI Atlanta Citizens Academy & InfraGard Atlanta partnered, members-only briefing on how domestic terrorism incidents involving a mass shooter are investigated and gain key learnings on federal and state resources available during such a response. This private briefing includes topics such as pre-event behavioral indicators of a mass shooter, evidence collection, management of a complex crime scene, crisis management, media management, and victim assistance matters, and is designed to prepare community and business leaders alike for a critical incident investigation that commands a unique and unified response. The FBI Atlanta Citizens Academy will be hosting additional trainings, classes, and conferences throughout the state of Georgia as it continues to assist law enforcement, fire, and EMS leadership and personnel in maintaining an increased readiness in responding to critical incidents such as an active shooter in a unified manner that best serves community citizenry.
