This introductory 8 week course will focus on the design process and basic fabrication techniques of jewelry making and metalsmithing. In this class, students will begin with a sample project to practice design, layout and construction of a small decorative metal piece. This will serve as a guide to practice using basic tools and techniques for sawing, soldering, texturing and polishing. Using these skills, students will design and construct a custom pendant, ring and/or earrings. Additional demonstrations, including bezel setting and riveting, will be provided during this course.

Materials included - copper, brass, nickel sheet and wire, sterling silver for ring project with cabochon stone.
