Description
The last few years have brought extraordinary challenges to non-profit organizations in New Jersey and around the world. History organizations in particular have suffered from the loss of in-person programs and the ongoing health challenges for staff and visitors. But where do we stand now? What are the current issues that face our organizations and practitioners, and how can we support each other in facing them? In March of 2020, the New Jersey Historical Commission (NJHC) launched its first COVID-19 Impact Survey to assess the impact of mandated closures. We learned that 65% of history organizations were operating with budgets under $100,000 before the virus and income losses forced them to rely on relief funds. Despite the reality of difficult decision making, the history community is resilient, and the best way forward is to understand the key challenges confronting the field. Please join the NJHC on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022, at the New Jersey State Museum to hear from statewide history service organizations about our greatest challenges. Special guest Jennifer Talansky of the Nonprofit Finance Fund will discuss the State of the Sector: The Health of the Nation's Nonprofits— a report of 1,100 multi-disciplinary, national, nonprofit results. Please see the agenda for more details. Free Visitor Parking in the NJ State House Garage. For other options see the Trenton Parking Authority. .
