Register for the meet and greet here: Please join us in St. Petersburg/Treasure Island, FL for the first annual Florida Harm Reduction Conference. The gathering is the first of its kind to bring together people and organizations working in or on harm reduction initiatives. Join us for a full day of panels discussing data and messaging including Advancing Infectious Disease Prevention Programs in Florida, Boots on the Ground Best Practices for Opioid Overdose Prevention and Reduction, Peer Support Best Practices, Hepatitis C Treatment Navigation, and The Future of the Infectious Disease Elimination Act (IDEA) in Florida. Presenters will include Hansel Tookes- IDEA Miami/UM, Nancy McConnell- Rebel Recovery/FLASH West Palm Beach, Nikki Medina Rodriguez and Melissa Salazar- Underground Recovery Jax, Shana Harris- University of Central Florida/Anthropology Dept., Tyler Bartholomew- IDEA Miami/UM, and Tim Santamour and Shelby Meaders- FLHRC. The aim of the first Florida Harm Reduction Conference is to both inform attendees of the successes of harm reduction initiatives in Florida and to network and energize supporters for the work ahead: expanding and integrating harm reduction into new and existent programs. We hope this in person event will give attendees the opportunity to build community together as we work to end HIV, Hepatitis C, and soft tissue infections, as we endeavor to end opioid overdoses, as we seek an end to stigma about People Who Use Drugs, as we advocate for no/low-barrier medical and treatment services, and as we build a more compassionate Florida. Let us come together as a mutually supportive Collective dedicated to improving the lives of People Who Use Drugs, their families, and their communities.
