Elaine Oakes joined the team at WLRH 89.3 FM/HD public radio in December 2020 as the Corporate Underwriting and Support Manager. After building her own business in leadership with Mary Kay Cosmetics since 1997, she entered the non-profit sector in a volunteer capacity in 2016. She enjoyed learning how to benefit organizations which she cared about through fundraising, grant-writing, volunteer management, public relations, etc. With her skills and background in marketing, business management and relationship-building, Elaine is excited to help businesses and non-profit organizations in our community share their messages in supporting WLRH public radio through underwriting opportunities. Elaine Oakes came to working with veterans after her grandfather moved to Madison in 2009. Elaine loved helping veteran-related non-profits including Honoring Veteran Legacies. She is Co-founder and Vice President of Honoring Veteran Legacies which helps senior veterans, aged 65 and older. Since her grandfather was a 101 year-old WWII veteran Sherwin Callander that served at Pearl Harbor and D-Day! The program formed to honor senior veterans in their communities and beyond and to guard and preserve their legacies for future generations. Elaine loves spending time with and serving these amazing heroes. Meet Amber Cavanaugh Amber Cavanaugh is an indie-pop musician residing in Huntsville, Alabama. Influenced by Doris Day, The Cardigans, and a rich and tonal blend of the 1950s with modern flair, she played baritone ukulele for over ten years. In addition to touring throughout Northern Alabama, she has recorded 2 Eps (including a Christmas album!) and a full-length album (all available for streaming on multi-platforms). When not performing live, Amber can be found writing and composing her music, best described as a unique blend of romanticism and the macabre that celebrates the joy of life. Cheers!
