sax player looking for not pretentious funk-jazz weirdness

I play the alto sax. I'm an intermediate player and have an excellent ear. I can play some drums, guitar, and vocals. I'm 32, have a professional day job, and play music on the side. I mostly want a group of dope Portlanders trying to hold down a groove. Groups that I think would be great to emulate are Yussef Dayes, Mammal Hands, Bad Bad Not Good, The Bad Plus, Tom Misch, Thundercat, FKJ, Masego, etc. I am in the process of turning my basement into a jam spot with a drum kit.
