We will meet on Tuesday nights until December to practice Irish social dancing. More information can be found at Tuesdaynightceiliclub on Facebook, and the web site for the City of Fairfax Parks and Rec Department. We participate because its great fun and good exercise. In addition to classes we do events at local restaurants and private homes. Our dancing is similar to contra dancing and square dancing, where dancers follow prearranged patterns. Unlike ballroom dancing, there is less pressure on the gent (leader) to select patterns to dance and lead correctly, and on the lady (follower) to interpret the gent's lead.
