Description
Modern Fictions are looking for a bassist for the next chapter of the band. A great opportunity for a skilled bassist to be central to our sound - lots of riffs and hooks are built around the bass. Big fans of that early 90's "loud-quiet-loud" dynamic of Nirvana/Pixies/Smashing Pumpkins, etc. Of course, some of our songs are straight-up rockers, but still lots of fun parts to play.
We're clearly influenced by 70's bands with big riffs like Zep and Sabbath and Stooges and even Joy Division, both directly and as filtered through grunge and the post-punk revival of the 2000's.
Looking to move our high energy show on to bigger venues and festival slots, as well as recording several singles and potentially a full album in the coming year. Already have more than a full set of songs (and an EP) in our pockets after many gigs around town, but we are also very much looking to move on to the next chapter.
Into fun and being chill, responsible people - no hard drugs, outsized egos, or unreliable flakes, thanks. Other projects are fine, but must commit to weekly rehearsals in Brooklyn. Female musicians actively encouraged to bring their own energy to the band.
Here are some GarageBand demos (mostly done on keyboard as a starting point for development). Actual speakers or headphones (not phone) recommended, of course.
