SUMMARY: The Duckhorn Portfolio Landscape Maintenance team is responsible for preserving and improving the visual presentation of facilities operating throughout the Napa Valley. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General Landscape Oversight (70%) – The main priority of this position is continuing the pristine care of the property gardens through the following tasks: • Irrigation Management o Perform regular routines for all manually operated irrigation systems and hand watering of zones not on an automatic system or in need of special attention o Provide regular system checks on all automatic systems o Provide basic repair and maintenance of all irrigation systems o Coordinate with Landscape Manager on setting clocks and installation of irrigation for new plantings • Turf Management o Regular mowing, edging, fertilizer applications and hand watering as needed • Weed Control o The gardens are to be as weed free as possible, especially in areas with direct public contact such as beds in and around the parking lot and pathways • Plant Care o Removal and replacement of dead or dying plants o Shape hedges o Dead heading roses and other flowering plants • Seasonal Tasks o Mulch at all sites o Prune trees, shrubs and roses, annual shearing of lavender o Maintenance and rotation of seasonal crops in DV Estate culinary gardens o Seasonal fertilizing as required o Levy maintenance • Strategy o Weekly conversations with the Landscape Manager and NV Landscape Consultant to discuss best tactics to address challenges and prioritizes weekly responsibilities General Visitor Center Maintenance (20%) – This position plays a key role in creating a ‘guest ready’ environment at our NV Visitor Centers through the following tasks: • Leaf blowing (between 7 AM-8 AM) • Gravel raking • Way finding sign cleaning • Parking lot and garden trash cans emptied • Ensure external light fixtures are operational • Cobweb removal from building exterior • Daily perimeter walks Preparation for Special Events (10%) – From time-to-time this position assists the Events team with set-up and break-down of company and consumer events through the following tasks: • Site preparation • Additional attention paid to event specific areas • Assistance with set-up of rental equipment • Transport and/or construct of company equipment QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum three years landscape experience to include maintenance, installation, pruning and irrigation • Attention to detail and proper techniques • Strong self-motivated worker with excellent organizational skills • Flexibility and the ability to work as a team and independently • CA Driver’s License and Clean DMV • Basic English comprehension and written skills • Ability to use mechanized equipment • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time • Ability to lift up to 40lbs. • MUST be able to work weekends About Us The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America’s premier luxury wine company, with ten renowned wineries, eight state-of-the-art winemaking facilities, seven beautiful tasting rooms and more than 800 coveted acres of vineyards spanning 22 sustainably farmed Estate properties.
