The Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy is dedicated to preserving the cultural and economic legacy of the original Freedom Quilting Bee (FQB), a Black women’s cooperative founded in Alberta, Alabama in 1966.
Founded at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, the Freedom Quilting Bee was one of few Black women’s cooperatives in the United States, and it operated at the forefront of the civil rights, women’s rights, and cooperative movements of the 1960s and 70s.
There is no cost, solicitation or minimum gift to the Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy required to attend this event.
