DETROIT — A man has been arrested after police said he randomly shot four people early Sunday morning on Detroit's west side along Seven Mile Road, killing three and wounding one other victim. Officers arrested the shooter in the area of Pembroke and Livernois streets, just a few minutes away from where officers found multiple people shot dead, Detroit Police said. Officers also found the gun they believe he used in the shootings, police said. "We got him," Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said. "With the help of critical information from the community and strong support from the FBI, ATF and Michigan State Police, Detroit police officers took the suspect into custody today without incident." Detroit police Chief James White said early reports indicate the shooter easily gained the gun. "This did not need to happen. Once again, Detroiters are reeling after lives were senselessly taken at random from our community," White said. "We mourn their loss and pray for those fighting for their lives at this hour. There are more questions than answers, but Detroiters can sleep peacefully tonight knowing this suspect is off the streets." Officers found a 44-year-old woman dead with multiple gunshot wounds at 4:45 a.m. Sunday morning in the area of Wyoming and Margareta avenues. As officers were investigating the scene, a witness told police about another shooting, in which officers found a 28-year-old man fatally shot at Seven Mile and Wyoming roads, White said during a Sunday afternoon news conference. A woman in her 40s was also found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on the 19700 block of Livernois Avenue, just north of Seven Mile Road, White said. Shortly later, White said a man was shot once on the 19200 block of Pennington St. near Seven Mile and West Outer Drive after he confronted the shooter when him saw him looking into car windows. His condition was also unknown as of Sunday afternoon. Police believe there was only one shooter and one weapon. They believe he is in his 20s or 30s and believe the shootings were random because nothing connected the four victims.
