The Jackson Street Jazz Walk kicks off this year with a Sept. 9th Black & White Gala at the Central Area Senior Center's Green Dolphin Room. The Jackson Street Jazz Walk (JSJW) is a MUSIC - COMMUNITY - LEGACY event that celebrates the rich African American musical legacy of the Seattle Central District, where music icons such as Ernestine Anderson, Ray Charles, and Quincy Jones began their iconic careers. This year the celebration kicks off with the Sept. 9th Black & White Gala, featuring live music, dancing, hors d'oeuvres, and a no-host bar; followed by the Sept. 10th,  12-band, 7-stages, 6-venue Jackson Street Jazz Walk.  Presented in unison with the Pratt Fine Arts Center’s OPEN HOUSE event, the JSJW features performances by Eugenie Jones, Alex Dugdale Fade Quartet, Jovino Santos Neto, E. Pruitt & Maureese Itson Band, Peter Adams Quartet, Jennifer Mellish, Jeremy Shakus Quartet/featuring Nathan Breedlove, Kim Maguire, Jean Chaumont Group, Trifecta, Tim Kennedy Trio, & Rik Wright’s Fundamental Focus.
