InfraGard Southeast Texas CSC Presents: Lamar University's new energy cybersecurity program Guest Speaker: Dr. Jerry Lin, Associate Provost for Research & Sponsored Programs with Lamar University Dr. Lin will share with us the vision and ongoing initiatives on cybersecurity at Lamar University (LU). How a recently awarded grant will help in the research and development of programs and products for the region’s energy and petrochemical industry to address their cybersecurity needs. Goal of the program is to train and support to help prevent a "Colonial Pipeline cyber breach" in SETX. "Solving for Risk in a Fractured OT Cyber Security Landscape" Guest Speaker: Bill Lawrence, Chief Information Security Officer with Security Gate AOOs across critical infrastructure sectors have to make the right investments in people, process, and technology to reduce their cyber security risk, but the results may be understaffing, lack of knowledge of a chosen risk assessment framework, and multiple facilities across large geographic areas to assess and compare. Efforts to mature cyber risk programs can be helped along the way in order to prioritize budget and technology considerations. Participants will learn better ways to assess and reduce risk no matter what critical infrastructure sector they are in.
