This class meets Saturday AND Sunday Sept. 24 & 25 Do you spend hours scrolling Pinterest for furniture transformation ideas? Do you find pieces in alleys and think “This could be great if only…..?” Do you have a sentimental piece of furniture that desperately needs to be updated? Then this is the class for you! Come join our DIY expert instructor Frank to learn the art of refinishing. You’ll take your piece through the entire process of stripping the existing finish all the way through staining or painting. *Please make sure to wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or wet. Day 1 we’ll cover: • Stripping old finish or paint • Scrubbing and washing • Sanding & prepping • Choosing your finish, paint, or coverings Day 2 we’ll cover: • Application methods • Finishing techniques • Topcoats • And… how to maintain your piece Please bring a solid wood or metal piece to refinish. Pieces should be less than 3’x3’x3’ and have simple lines, not extensive ornament. We will have a selection of stains and paints but you are welcome to bring your own if you have a specific finish in mind. If you choose to bring your own finish, water based finish is preferred. If you choose to bring oil based finish please bring your own brushes and drop cloths. We will not be covering lacquer or shellac in this workshop. All the layers of paint (base, color or stain, and topcoat) should be the same brand. Mixing brands can cause issues of incompatibility. This also applies to the base of the paint; if you pick water-based you need to stay water-based. Oil and water don’t mix. *If you have questions about your piece or finishes you’d like to use, please send them to [email protected] The class will meet 6 hours/day for 2 days with 30 min breaks for lunch. You are welcome to bring your own food or there is a Mariano’s a block from the warehouse. REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES If you can’t make it to a class, you can transfer your ticket to someone else. If Rebuilding Exchange needs to cancel a workshop, we will notify you 24 hours before the class and give you the option of refund or reschedule. We do not currently offer other refunds or transfers between classes.
