Description
Jack - 2.5 year old Dutch Shepherd male, still half pup half man. Intact. From papered parents, no papers, no strings. One very handsome stud boy!!! Very good family pet, in house (house trained), no mess/no fuss, does not get into trash can or food left on counter but would most likely snag a ham sandwich from hand of a two year old child if he thought he could say the kids was actually "offering" him the sandwich 😉. Sometimes sneaks into couch at night. He's a Dutchie, they are smart and stubborn, makes them great, but they continue to try if not schooled. Went through kennel training first year or so, actually finished kennel training by 6 months but Jack seemed to like the kennel for his sleeping den so it stayed around longer than needed with the gate taken off. Great with out ten children ranging from infant to 22. We live on 5 acres, generally great not chasing critters of all sizes, listening to verbal commands, even the children. Falls in line with the program around here like the rest of the kids. Runs on leash well both around campus and trails at Raven Rock, manly watchful bark so we sleep well, travels ok in the different vehicles, about a 6-7 out of ten. Depends on the vehicle. Why is super dog looking for a new home? Great question. Our neighbor fenced in a pasture just outside our front fence and moved his the beautiful horses into the lot as full time residence. Jack being Jack is understandably quite curious, and tenacious, and determined, and too Dutchie stubborn for his own good in this instance, to interested in horses to listen and stay home. We live on a mostly fence 5 acres and try to keep Jack inside now most of the time but one, that's no good for Jack and two, Jack is smart and in tune enough to know who he can slip past when let outside. For us humans, both us and the horse owner, this isn't compatible to his peace, personal space or investment in horses. Therefore, Jack, though sweet and not damaging anything, is determined to stretch the good graces of the neighbor and thus our localized relationships. Most of the family is out of town while I tackle putting in a new kitchen and floors for my wife, so if there were a "good time to consider whether or not to find Jack a new home" we feel it would be now when the kids are away. You have roughly until August 31st to snag a gentleman Dutchie. I wrote a lot. Jack means a lot to us. So does our responsibility to the community and livestock nearby. We all agree though Jack spends plenty of quality time in the house he also needs to run around outside and do dog stuff. Reasonable rehoming fee. Great indoors dog. No papers (papered parents), no strings, fine looking stud. Looking for solid family, homestead or athletic type to make good use of this special friend.
