ISO Puppy NOT from a Breeder

I am searching for a puppy <6 mos. old - for middle of October pickup. I DO NOT want a puppy from a breeder, more so where the owner for whatever reason needs to actually rehome, or stumbled across a puppy and took them in temporarily, or maybe their dog accidentally had a litter. Prefer medium or large breed dog. I understand rehoming fees and am willing to pay a small rehoming fee to demonstrate the seriousness behind my inquiry, but I am not paying any more than I would pay at an SPCA. My son's rabbit died in March and we are looking to add a pet. I have a lot of experience with all kinds of dogs and have had them my whole life. Thank you
