Separation of Church and State is of the utmost importance. Without this their would not be a free society. Children could be taught religious tales that did not match their churches tales or their parents beliefs and practices in public schools. There could still be religious schools that one's parents could decide to send their kids to. Then when the children reach a certain age or responsibility they too can be free to choose what to do within legal limits of course. This is just one small example of why it is so important to have the separation of Church and State. The people that advocate Christian Nationalism are aware of the above and all the other damages to Americas freedoms. They prefer to go back before the founding of America and the founders understanding of the importance of the separation of Church and State to some medieval time. To close their eyes to reality of the human condition, science, facts, and how well our country has done compared to less free countries.
