Guitar player ISO or form funk/R&B band

I guess the main thing I want to emphasize is I’m looking for or form a working band. I play in a progressive rock band that doesn’t really gig out. And while my favorite guitarists are guys like Petrucci and Gilbert, I love bands like Liquid Soul and Soulive that can get a crowd dancing. I’m picturing something like Cissy Strut by the Meters. I’m thinking drums, guitar, bass, keys, and maybe a horn or two. I realize that’s a lot of personnel, but I’m just seeing what’s out there. I’m 41, have a degree in music and can read charts/sheet music. I play a PRS, which is an all around great guitar for many genres. The last thing is that I’m looking for something fairly local. I do a lot of driving between work and the prog band so I’d like to keep that to a minimum at least for rehearsals.
