Description

Music lovers of all ages will love the Columbia Orchestra’s new Classics at the Chrysalis concert! Presented in partnership by the Inner Arbor Trust and Columbia Orchestra, this exciting program features music you’ll recognize from Holst’s The Planets, Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody, Dvorak’s New World, and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. The Orchestra will introduce you to music from their upcoming season by Copland and Prokofiev and play some marvelous new works from around the world including Gabriela Ortiz’s nightclub inspired “Antrópolis,” an Indian-American work combining Hindustani and Western singing, and Duke Ellington’s homage to Dr. Martin Luther King. The concert will last approximately one hour and forty-five minutes including intermission. The park setting and short pieces on the program make this a perfect concert for the entire family!
