Black Root Underground is a popular, high-energy band from Baltimore that fuses hip hop, funk, jazz, blues, reggae, and spoken word. They are known for the inclusiveness of their lively, participation-based performances. The band, formed in 2014, reflects the influence of legendary performers such as James Brown, George Clinton, and Bob Marley. Their new CD is called “Root Canal.” The band members play multiple instruments and are multi-talented. Lead vocalist Black Root contributed a song to 123 Andrés Grammy-nominated CD, “Activate.” Come get down with the Black Root Underground!
