September 2 - 2pm - 6pm
The New Village Music Festival (NVMF) was created as a vehicle to unite people of all ages and ethnicities. The event features a free outdoor multi-genre concert that celebrates music, culture, diversity and community. Celebrating the past, present and future of music. Part of the festival’s mission is to connect artists to networking and promotional opportunities. Inevitably, this event has also come to highlight the importance of local organizations that provide music and arts programming to children and families. The NVMF also hosts free interactive public music and art workshops which have included Latin, Brazilian and Bomba percussion rhythms adding to a creative platform that inspires people of all ages.
The NVMF experience encourages community volunteerism and community organization via multiple platforms including: event planning, multimedia, promotions, marketing and branding. This powerful example of community outreach clearly demonstrates how music and art can provide multiple developmental leadership opportunities.
Artists featured over the years include: Roc Nation’s Victory Boyd, Grammy Award winning Flor de Toloache, award winning Poet/Actor La Bruja, legendary PR Folk Artist Jose Valdes, Under The Rasta Influence, A Band Called Loisaida, R&B/Rock/Soul Singer and Songwriter Clayton Bryant, Tatiana Owens.
