Beginner or experienced quilters; great project to use up your scraps; designated time to spend with like-minded people.
This Block of the Month quilt square is for the beginner quilter or the experienced quilter. Attendees do not have to commit to every month with this Block of the Month.
Sign up for the squares you like!-Skip the ones you don’t! This is a great way to use up your scraps. Just choose a neutral fabric for the background color and have some fun!
Attendees need to bring their fabrics, rotary cutter, ruler, small cutting mat (or you can use our large mat), seam ripper, sewing machine, 1/4” foot, thread and fabric shears.
Fabric Requirements (Choose your own colors)
Background (White): 2-7/8” x WOF (Width of Fabric)
Main Color(Grey): 5-1/4” x WOF
Accent (Red): 2-7/8” x 12”
Cutting and Labeling
From Background fabric:
• Cut six squares 2-7/8”. Cut each once on the diagonal to yield 12 triangles. (B)
• Trim remainder of strip to 2-1/2” wide. Cut a rectangle 2-1/2” x 8-1/2”. (D)
• Cut two rectangles 2-1/2” x 4-1/2”. (A)
From Main fabric:
• Cut a square 5-1/4”. Cut twice on the diagonal to yield 4 triangles. (E) You will only use ONE of these.
• Cut two squares 4-1/2”. (F)
• Cut a square 2-7/8”. Cut once on the diagonal to yield 2 triangles. (B)
• Cut two rectangles 2-1/2” x 4-1/2”. (A)
From Accent fabric:
• Cut four squares 2-7/8”. Cut each once on the diagonal to yield 8 triangles. (B)
