2 male hedgehogs

I post this with a heavy heart. i know i should have researched these animals more prior to getting them for my kids. I have 2 male hedgehogs i need to rehome. my children have lost interest in them. They are beautiful animals. Sadly we were misinformed on how to care for them. We were led to believe they could be housed together. When we contacted the breeder because they were fighting all the time, our cries for help went unanswered. We had really hoped going to a breeder would give us some support. we traveled to RI to meet to pick these boys up, that was last we were able to contact them for anything. we were told all we needed was a plastic bin, hide and bedding. that they would drink from a water bottle. after research realized how dangerous they are if not hand made especially for them. We ordered them a new water bottle. After them fighting and us reaching out to a local breeder here in MA, we found out boys can not be housed together. we then got another bin. it was suggested to get them each big cages and was told that they needed a heat system, especially now that fall is coming soon. if my children were not scared of them, they may have not lost interest, i would keep them. I don't think they were handled ever. its pretty sad. the people i have talked to, to get advise, have sent me videos of their hedgehogs, which are very sweet. these boys will need lots of attention and time to open up. its very sad that i was led to believe that everything we were told was normal. These boys can not live together. Sadly we do not have correct cages for them, nor heat systems. i am hoping to find someone or a couple people that would like to have a hedgehog. i am thinking because of how they do not open up and make a hissing sound all the time (i was told because they are scared) will need a experienced hedgehog owner to get them to open up and be happy like they deserve. We paid three fifty for each of them, so i am hoping to get a rehoming fee of one hundred for each, i don't think i can ask for more given how untamed they are and that they do need full cage set ups with the heat. i also was told that they did not need wheels, as it would injure them, again that was not the truth. Please, we did not do the research we should have. we believed what we thought as a good breeder. i wish we had taken the time to learn more about these animals and talked to a breeder that has been around a while. Very happy that we were able to talk to someone that actually knows about these pets to learn what we should have known. Given the temps are getting cooler at night. i am hoping to find them homes sooner than later. i am hoping to not have to buy the heat systems. i was also told that is can be dangerous to put a heat system on a bin. so the new cage would be so much better for them too before the temps drop to much. Please i ask you not to judge me and my family. i really wish i had not been lied to, just so the breeder could make the sale, there are some good breeders i have talked to here in MA since, they are happy to help anyone that is willing to give these boys a home, if the new owner needs anything. i only want what is best for these boys. if you are interested, please send us your cell phone number so i can send you some photos of the boys.
