Description
Workshop-Writing: From Encoding to Empowerment The words "encoding" and "empowerment" are seldom seen in the same sentence, but they are woven together as the two ends of the writing cord. Explore the BIG PICTURE of writing instruction from spelling words to writing to change the world. Join board certified educational therapist, Diana Kennedy, as she explores the best practices of writing instruction and the neurobiology behind it, as well as the effects of learning disorders on each level. Learn the science behind the ways writing can support socio-emotional learning and well-being of your students and a framework for integrating the two. This workshop will integrate a presentation, hands-on work with materials and techniques, and group work to create your own scope and sequence. You will walk away with an understanding of most effective products and programs, sample lesson plans, and teaching strategies and tools to start applying your learning to your practice right away!
