I am an architect and general contractor, building and maintaining houses in the Joshua Tree area and Palm Springs area. I have a lot of ongoing projects and need help 4 days (M-Th) every week.. The work ranges from ground-up construction to detailed finish projects. If you are interested in learning about all aspects of residential construction at the highest level and want to be exposed to the whole business and building process this job can give you that exposure and grow with you. A young person pursuing a future high end general contractor business would be a good fit. I intend to keep growing my work and have years of projects lined up so there are long term opportunities. Construction experience is appreciated, if only to confirm that you are not allergic to hard work, but we are working on custom buildings and doing unique tasks that haven’t been done before.– so most important is a good attitude, open communication without too much ego to try new approaches, basic skills, comfort and dexterity with power tools, and craftsmanship. I will be working alongside and I do this work because I like it- I want to work with people who can show up fresh, get into it, have a good attitude, laugh and talk a bit, and enjoy progress each day. It is construction work so some days are physically demanding, but it isn’t the same task day after day like subcontractor work. No jobsite bullshit, this is a mature respectful situation but no drug/alcohol/law/personal problems brought to work either. I have been doing this work for over a decade and most of the helpers I have taken on have turned long-term and grown with the job. At least half of the days will be in Joshua Tree so consider the drive time. My “interview” process is that you just come out and work one day for pay... and we see how it goes.
