Missed connection with my younger self

Description

So you get diagnosed with ADHD when you’re 25, and you are going to feel really awful and relieved about the diagnosis. Your cries for help were not ignored, you stood up for yourself and coped the only way you knew how. While your family might not understand you or see the signs because, “Little girls should behave,” and chalk it up to misbehavior, I see you. Your overstimulation, meltdowns, highs and lows are going to make sense. While you will be able to get help and learn new ways to take care of yourself, I can’t help but feel bad that I didn’t do a better job of taking care of us. You did the best job you could with the cards given, and I’m going to do all I can to take care of you now. Signed, Your queer trans adult self
