Honey can be a wonderful addition to any drink or meal as a sweetener, or a savory accent. The level of perceived sweetness varies with the varietal and can act as a complement or contrast to your dish. Just as you pair different wines with different foods, the same can be done with honey. I am constantly exploring its versatility in foods and always amazed by the outcomes.
There are over 300 unique types of honey in the United States.
“Varietal honey may be best compared to wine in terms of climatic changes. Even the same flower blooming in the same location may produce slightly different nectar from year to year, depending on temperature and rainfall.” National Honey Board
Join me for a guided tasting of 4 distinctive honey varietals and learn how to taste beneath the sweetness of honey. I will discuss how bees make honey, the benefits, different flavor profiles and the ways talking about honey parallel how we talk about wines.
Along with the honeys, we will taste 2 beautiful wines provided by Woven Wineworks and you'll get the chance to make a dosage blend that you'll be able to take with you.
After the tasting, Woven Wineworks will remain open until 4:30PM if you would like to purchase wines or honey products.
