Protesting is a popular Portland sport. And we will protest just about anything. Ruminants lives matter? It doesn't matter that the elk statue in question was unpopular and blocked traffic in the heart of the city. It was our statue, unrealistic as it was. Abe Lincoln a racist? Or Teddy Roosevelt? Apparently so as a crowd knocked over their statues and roasted them over open fires. We're trying to get used to it. After 170 years we're almost to the point of accepting how weird we are in this little piece of Eden. It could be worse.
