Heavily influenced by the live music of block parties in the 70’s, classic hip hop’s slick, rap-heavy sound was defined and popularized by the iconic works of groups like The Sugarhill Gang (“Rapper’s Delight”), Run-D.M.C. (“It’s Tricky”), and N.W.A. (“Express Yourself”).
