We are looking for safe, reliable drivers to operate Para-transit vehicles and to provide excellent passenger assistance to senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Join a team of dedicated drivers eager to make a difference in the community. We provide medical and social transportation services throughout the Metro North area. As one of our drivers you will play an important role in the quality of life of your passengers, by helping them to maintain healthy, mobile and connected lives. Door2Door is a non-profit corporation based in Somerville, MA. We are hiring part-time and full-time drivers, with a flexible availability between 7:00 am – 5:30 pm, Mon-Fri. Pay: $14.25-$15.00 per Hour Functions 1. Operates the vehicle, two way radio, and other equipment in a safe, proper, and legal manner at all times. 2. Provides all riders with courteous care and assistance from the door of their residence to the door of their destination, including help descending and ascending stairs, carrying bags, carrying up to five grocery bags, positioning walkers or canes and pushing or pulling a wheelchair. 3. Properly escorts wheelchair passengers to and from their destination, secures wheelchairs, operates lift and drives cautiously knowing that wheelchair passengers feel the bumps more acutely. 4. Reports all incidents or potential problems to the appropriate supervisor. 5. Reliably adheres to the schedule, and operates in conformance with all policies and procedures. 6. Cleans the vehicle, performs daily vehicle inspections, and reports problems. 7. Maintains accurate records of all trips, including riders, times, mileage, fares and donations, and other data, as directed. 8. Attends trainings and maintains up to date certifications, including a MA Driver’s License, First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance Techniques, and other certifications as required. Qualifications 1. Ability to drive a van and maintain a valid MA Driver's license required. 2. Excellent driving skills required, as evidenced by a satisfactory Driving Record. 3. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills with senior citizens and persons with disabilities required. 4. A commitment to providing friendly, safe, door2door and reliable service to each and every Door2Door Customer. 5. Ability to learn and communicate Door2Door’s programs and services to customers, volunteers and potential donors. 6. Ability to read a map/atlas. 7. Physically able to manually operate a fifty pound wheelchair lift, support and assist riders, and carry grocery bags. 8. One years' experience as a professional driver preferred. 9.
