This interactive in-person talk by Don Smith will assist gardeners and indoor/outdoor plant enthusiasts in becoming successful orchid growers. Lighting conditions, watering cycles, repotting requirements and other growing tips will be discussed. Don will also try to correct certain orchid growing fallacies. Blooming orchid plants will be available for sale following Don’s presentation and Q&A. The selection will include orchids easily grown in your home. We will conduct our DGC General Membership meeting following the presentation. All are welcome to join us and learn more about Darien Garden Club's activities and future plans. A member of the Batavia Orchid Society. Don has been raising orchids for 40 years. He still has his first orchid plant, which continues to flower yearly. Retired after 34 years as a primary PE teacher, Don now focuses on education of the gardening public on how to successfully grow orchids. Don often presents to garden clubs and master gardeners on this subject. He loves to introduce people to the joys of growing orchids. Don has operated his greenhouse in the Frankfort area for 35+ years. The public is welcome to visit the Anything Orchids greenhouse.
