“There is a 75% chance you have cancer.” That sentence slapped me in the face. At 22 years old, I felt normal. I’d just graduated college, landed my dream job and felt my adult life was just beginning. I didn’t sign up for a life threatening diagnosis. But that’s how life goes. Sometimes the only thing we have control of is how we respond. I got diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Fast forward: 6 months of testing, 12 rounds of chemotherapy and 39 Emory Healthcare appointments. We are 5 years cancer free. Most docs say that you are cured once you remain in complete remission for 5 years or more. I’m claiming it. And I want to celebrate. Come out and celebrate creating a life we are proud of. All proceeds from the event will benefit a 20 year old who recently got a similar diagnosis. Tickets are sold to support our fundraiser efforts. We will host an auction during the event. Food and beverages available for purchase.
